Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of grit between perceived parental achievement pressure and academic failure tolerance by adolescents. In this study, we collected data from 478 middle/high school students in D, B, U cities, and analyzed them using the SPSS 25.0 and SPSS Process macro 3.5. The data analysis revealed that grit had a mediating effect in the relationship between mothers’ achievement pressure and academic failure tolerance. This result indicates that grit may play a critical role in enhancing academic failure tolerance, while also positively perceiving the parental achievement pressure. Thus, grit must be developed to enhance academic failure tolerance, and parenting in families that can enable adolescents to develop grit also suggests the importance of grit. Based on these results, we present future intervention strategies for schools to implement to develop grit with parent education about parenting attitude.
