Abstract

The aim of this study was to investgate the effects of recovery treatment methods after Taekwondo competiton on muscle damage substances. The subjects of this study were selected as 15 male Taekwondo athletes, and BCAA intake and BCAA+cold treatment were applied to three divided groups, which are control group(5), intake group(5), and combined treatment group(5). In this study, the mean (M) and standard deviation (SD) of the measurement items were calculated using SPSS Statistics Version 21.0, and the repeated measure of ANOVA was performed to determine differences between the three group. All levels of statistical significance were set to P<.05, and scheffe was used as the method of post hoc test. As the result of this study, the combined treatment method decreased creatine kinase(CK) and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) concentrations in the order of control group<intake group<combined treatment group after Taekwondo comepetition. Therefore, BCAA intake and cold treatment are effective in reducing muscle damage substances by improving the recovery function after exercise, and especially, it is judged that they can help the performance of athletes that have to play many competitions such as tournament events.
