Abstract

Quality education is reduced not only to the acquisition of knowledge, but also to the development of the individual, creates conditions for the manifestation of his creative and individual abilities for good social realization. Summary lessons are difficult and annoying for students, and the competitive element is a favorite activity for children. That is why the teachers of Bulgarian language and literature at the First Primary School „St. St. Cyril and Methodius“ in the town of Gotse Delchev, we decided that we could turn boring lessons into a competition“ Do you know Bulgarian and do you know literature?“. Long-term observations show that the competition motivates students to present themselves with dignity not only to their teachers and classmates, but also to parents and other audiences. The magic of the competition captivates them and imperceptibly leads to the accumulation of lasting knowledge and practical skills to deal with learning content in an informal environment. The competition develops students’ curiosity and analytical thinking, makes them more responsible, builds their mental resilience and perseverance, shows their strengths and weaknesses, teaches them to maintain selfcontrol, control their emotions, improve, create skills for communication and work in a team in solving various tasks. Competitive spirit helps to turn the lesson from hardship into an attractive form of training for adolescents.
