Abstract

This paper presents a new approach to investigation of playgrounds’ safety, which has recently become a matter of special debates in modern foreign psychology and pedagogy. Under this approach, a reasonable risk is seen as a necessary condition of mental development and as a subject of psycho-pedagogical analysis. The article discusses some of the most topical issues related to risk and safety issues of a game environment. It shows the difference in concepts of risk and danger. Specificity of a risky game draws special attention of scholars. The article provides some research evidence, concerning child behavior on the playgrounds, risky behavior and the approaches to the development of risk assessment techniques in the game environments.
