Abstract

The increase in demand for coal over the past two years has opened up good prospects for Russian mining companies. The growth of production is hampered by the insufficient capacity of transport corridors, and the extensive development of transport infrastructure against the backdrop of an unstable economy and low tariffs for coal transportation is not profitable. For the effective strategic development of the coal industry, the transport problem is proposed to be solved in close conjunction with the development of coal chemistry. Products of deep coal processing require less transport, they have a lower share of transport costs in the final cost. The article argues that this approach will increase the production and export of coal without a proportional increase in traffic volumes.
