Abstract
The article is devoted to the formation and development of the scientific, creative and organizational path of Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the outstanding domestic cultural scientist Valery Pavlovich Bol’shakov (1940–2021). The work gives a detailed analysis of the contribution of V. P. Bol’shakov to the development of St. Petersburg cultural studies, a brief outline of theoretical ideas and developments, as well as the works of V. P. Bol’shakov. The contribution of V. P. Bol’shakov to the development of the axiological approach in understanding the essence of culture was separately considered, and its role in the formation and institutionalization of cultural studies in modern Russian humanities studies was also revealed.
