Abstract

The article presents the author’s view on the concept of “curriculum capacity”, which is understood as the maximum amount of educational time provided for achieving educational results, taking into account the amount of time for lessons, extracurricular educational activities and independent (home) study work in all academic subjects (courses) during a certain academic period. The formula for calculating the value of the indicator is proposed, examples of the relationship between the capacity of the school curriculum and operational (for 1 year) and long-term (for several years or for the level of general education) planning of the educational process are given. It is shown that in the process of selecting the content of education, the curriculum capacity sets the framework within which the distribution of teaching time between subjects, the development of programs and textbooks take place in the future.
