Abstract


 
 
 
 
 In its true nature and spirit, Islam condemns aristocracy and dictatorship and favors consultancy and mutual consent. Freedom, equality, and equity are the basis of Islamic social dogma as perceived in the core sources of Islam. The debate of compatibility between Islam and democracy has taken many paradigms shifts in recent history. The concept of Khilafah in Islamic tradition and its implications in present circumstances is one of the hottest debates in academic and political circles of the Muslim perspective. This paper vividly confers this debate by analyzing the facts regarding contemporary perspectives of democracy and other concerned ones. This comparative approach may pave the path to describe and conclude that Islamic is compatible with democracy but with a clear stance on the revealed methodology.
