ЖИТТЄВИЙ ШЛЯХ І НАУКОВІ ЗДОБУТКИ ПРОФЕСОРА О. Я. РОСТОВСЬКОГО

Abstract

The article informs about Professor O. Rostovskyi’s life and scientific achievements significance of which is extremely great in the context of studying the formation of music pedagogy history in Ukraine since its independence. The purpose of our study is to draw attention to the figure of Oleksandr Rostovskyi in the context of music pedagogy formation together with the creation of a country of independent Ukraine. Also very important is to ensure a proper place for his proceedings among scientists who have worked on the same topic. We analyzed O. Rostovskyi’s biography and scientific heritage. Mainly the last oneconsists of music programs for primary and secondary school (created by a group of authors led by Oleksandr Rostovskyi) and lesson outlines; music schoolbook for 1st grade (co-authored); manuals on the music education theory and methods for future teachers of music who study at high educational establishments. Very special section of his research activities is scientific supervision of dissertations for the pedagogical sciences candidate degree in its total number of 12. A circle of like-minded people and students makes it possible to talk about a scientific school leadershiped by O. Rostovskyi which promoted related pedagogical ideas and had research topics commonality. The conclusion is that the scientific heritage of Professor O. Rostovskyi is one of thefundamentally important milestones in the development of Ukrainian music pedagogy during its independence and statehood formation. It is thanks to the scientist’s approach to teaching children music which was based on the use of national culture combined with the pedagogical concept of D. Kabalevskyi thefoundations of schoolchildren national self-identification were laid. This was critically necessary in rapid state-building processes terms and thanks toscientific supervision it became possible to use the complex of children musical education methods. The scientific originality of this article lies in the field of systematization of Professor O. Rostovskyi’s work. The practical significance means the acquiring of informative basis for further more detailed research.
