Syntactic arsenal of the uncertainty category is represented by nouns in stable word-combinations, metaphors, perfective verbs, existential sentences, some types of subordinate clauses, inversion, etc. The author aims to prove that indefinite nouns in S. Dovlatov’s discourse have their own specificity, high level of frequency, perform the intriguing function and the function of “implicit” evaluation.
