Abstract

This study conducted a survey on the color matching used in the underground parking lot safety signs of brand apartment in the metropolitan area, and through this, the types of color schemes that are difficult to distinguish from the eyes of people with color weakness were identified. Based on this, this study proposes a color universal design color scheme that everyone can recognize. In order to proceed with this study, the parking lot color manuals of the top 8 construction companies in the domestic contract rankings and the sites completed in the last 3 years in the Seoul-Metropolitan area to which this color manual was applied were investigated. As a result of the investigation, the main safety sign was red with high saturation so that it could be visually recognized within a short time in an emergency, and the background consisted of various colors. Especially, color matching with a background color of medium brightness (brightness 5) or less was used the most even though it was the most difficult for people with color weakness to recognize. Therefore, in this study, a color scheme of color universal design is proposed by putting a white border around the safety sign or using a yellow sign with a large difference in brightness. As a result, it is intended to provide a point where various users can solve difficulties and promote convenience when recognizing safety signs for underground parking lots.
