Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of studying a variety song. On the basis of the comparative analysis of the performer’s interpretations of the songs “Mischief” (music and words by V. Vysotsky) and “To That Highway” (music by M. Fradkin, words by N. Dorizo) the researcher proves that new arrangements, free interpretation of the author’s original text and different performing styles can transform the composer’s original variety song genre through such phenomena as genre modulation (transition to another genre) or genre synthesis (combination of several genres).
