Abstract
This article reveals the essence of audit, with the study of its main functions. An important role in this study is assigned to the identification of the main problems of audit development in our country, as well as the search for ways to overcome them. In addition, as an example, the article cites audit organizations that are world-famous under the name of “Big Four”. The research topic is very relevant at the current level of development of society and the economy, since independent expertise plays an important role in verifying and obtaining the most reliable information for analyzing the financial and economic activities of organizations.
