Abstract
The research objectives are as follows: to reveal specificity of the modern German vocabulary from the viewpoint of amateur criticism, to identify linguistic foundations for critical assessment of lexical phenomena. The author provides a comprehensive analysis of the lexical processes associated with the criticized language phenomena, reveals their causes, which constitutes scientific originality of the study. As a result, it is shown that amateur linguistic criticism covers the following lexical phenomena: borrowing, word-formation, meaning transfer (metaphorization, euphemization), specificity of contextual usage of words and word combinations.
