Abstract

The purpose of this study is to suggest a direction for the selection of urban regeneration projects through analysis of the current status and importance of urban regeneration projects in Korea. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, in terms of living environment, the improvement of the local environment has been shown to be the most important undertaking, which is attributed to the decline of most domestic urban regeneration projects. In terms of the economic environment, the creation of specialized spaces, the construction of specialized spaces, and the linkage of local resources are required for urban regeneration. Second, in terms of relative importance, the importance of economic environment such as infrastructure expansion, infrastructure creation, and settlement environment improvement was found to be high. In addition, the respondents of the survey judged that the creation and improvement of urban infrastructure is urgent. Third, it was identified that the infrastructure sector and the infrastructure creation strategy had the highest overall importance, reflecting the weight of the aspect of the regeneration project and the sectors. For urban regeneration, regional revitalization, regional specialization strategies, and establishment of governance were also investigated as major considerations.
