Abstract
The article reveals certain aspects of the regional disproportion of the Federal Republic of Germany treating the housing stock as an indicator and taking into account such criteria as the age of the buildings, the area of the premises, the ratio of property and lease, the type of the building, etc. The main attention is paid to the results of the first population census that was conducted after the unification of Germany in 2011 and the reports on German unity, which accumulate the federal government’s strategic principles for the housing provision of the population. The author notes the interrelationship between reduction in the population of the Federal Republic of Germany, primarily East Germany, and the state of the housing market.
