Abstract

The present work investigated experimentally flame oscillation in premixed syngas-air impingement jet flames. The lifted flame modes were identified to two basic combustion modes, a steady disc lifted flame(SDLF) and an unsteady disc lifted flame(UDLF), respectively. These flame modes depend on the equivalence ratio, nozzle exit velocity and distance from nozzle to impinging plate. Results show that the SDLF was found to no significant movement was observed and therefore no noise sound was associated. While, the UDLF had a fuzzy peripheral boundary with noise sound and were found to oscillation with one or two simultaneous frequencies.
