Abstract

Income inequality is characteristic of all economic systems. The market mechanism of income redistribution, and even their centralized regulation, can not eliminate this inequality, because equal distribution of income does not only lead to social justice, but also weakens incentives to work and the desire to ensure high productivity. Moreover, differences in ability, education and training, professional taste and risk, ownership of property are significant factors in the emergence of income inequality in society. The paper analyzes the impact of fiscal policy on overcoming income inequality. For this purpose, first researches done by different economists in this field were commented, then the current state of income inequality in Armenia, the changes of the fiscal policy during the last decade were studied. A model has been developed to assess the impact of fiscal policy on income inequality, the future course of certain fiscal policy instruments, their impact on income inequality for the next five years.
