Abstract
Army newspaper “Geroicheskaya krasnoarmeyskaya” edited by D. I. Ortenberg covered the fighting of the Workers and Peasants' Red Army in the Khalkhin Gol area. The best front-line correspondent was V. P. Stavsky. He was also the most famous and highest-ranking writer in the USSR. Ortenberg and Stavsky turned the combat leaflet into a highly professional newspaper read by soldiers on the front lines. Stavsky created a permanent column “Heroes of Khalkhin Gol”. His essays and reports educated soldiers, commanders and political workers.
