Abstract

Relevance Since 2011, the Industry 4.0 initiative has been a key area of research and development in the field of flexible manufacturing systems. The aim of the initiative is to address the increased complexity of manufacturing caused by various factors such as increased global competition between companies, product diversity and customization to meet customer needs. To do this, Industry 4.0 provides for a comprehensive connection of information technology with the production process, which ensures intelligent production. Bringing existing production systems to this goal will be a long process of transformation that requires a consistent migration path. Research methods The study was aimed at providing a theoretical consistent guide to the development of production processes in the direction of Industry 4.0, taking into account both the IT infrastructure and the added value of the enterprise. Results In the course of the study, the characteristics and functionality of each stage of the concept were studied in detail, and the choice of technology and the appointment of the corresponding stages were justified.
