Abstract

This article analyses the results of the July 2023 parliamentary election in Cambodia, election manifestos, and the structure of political forces. The author shows that a confident electoral victory of the Cambodian People’s Party accelerated the process of power change and the retreat of previously dominant politicians headed by Hun Sen. Key positions are now occupied by the younger generation led by Hun Manet. The article concludes that a clan-based, familial mechanism of power transition has been formed in Cambodia.
