Abstract

This paper presents an investigation into the research trends and their characteristics in modern Chinese history(2018-19) and social history of medicine(2010-19) in South Korea. The trend in the field of Chinese modern history for the last 10 years will be followed by the decline of traditional national construction discourse, the weakening of economic and intellectual history, the rise of social and cultural history including medical history, the deepening of research on East Asian history, the growing interest in the socialist state construction period and the cultural revolution, the deepening of interdisciplinary research on the political, intellectual and cultural systems of that times.
These characteristics are expected to maintain this trend in the future as they relate to the growing interest in everyday life, critical perception of real society, as well as the identity of Korean researchers of modern Chinese history who are trying to balance the perspective of the national history with the view of East Asia.
In addition, it is necessary to continue to pay attention to and reflect on East Asian historical disputes and territorial disputes, which still remain unresolved. In order for historical research to be practical and productive, it is necessary to pay more attention to the continuous exploration of alternatives that can resolve historical disputes and the recognition of problems that can speak about real society.
