Abstract

The paper aims to identify contradictions in the development of consumer cooperation in the Russian countryside in the 1990-2010s, to reveal its role in socio-economic transformations of this period. Originality of the study lies in the fact that the authors comprehensively analyse the development of consumer cooperation in the mentioned period, introduce new empirical material into scientific circulation. The research findings are as follows: evolution of consumer cooperation in the transitional period (the 1990s - the beginning of the 2010s) is traced, its participation in social transformations in the Russian countryside is revealed, the role of shareholders in consumer cooperation activity is identified, forms and methods of work with shareholders are described.
