Abstract
The article provides a historiographic review of the problem of struggle of the USSR security agencies against the nationalist movement within the territory of Western Ukraine in 1939-1953. The aim of the work is to critically analyse the publications on history of the struggle of the Soviet security agencies against the nationalist underground and armed formations in Western Ukraine in 1939-1953. The originality of the proposed approach lies in the fact that for the first time the available information on the topic has been determined, and the conformity of the conclusions of the modern Ukrainian specialists to historical facts and archival documents has been verified. The results of the study can be used in practical work to counter the measures aimed at falsifying the activity of the security agencies of the USSR in Western Ukraine on the eve, during and after the Great Patriotic War.
