Abstract

The paper aims to identify the role of the major political parties in social life of Ryazan city in the first half of 1917. The study focuses on analysing the parties’ activities ahead of 1917 elections to Ryazan City Duma. Scientific originality of the research involves a comprehensive analysis of the regional political landscape ahead of 1917 elections to Ryazan City Duma. The research findings are as follows: the author proves that elections to Ryazan City Duma were accompanied by violent struggle of the major political parties - the Constitutional Democratic Party, the Socialist Revolutionary Party, the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (Mensheviks) and the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (Bolsheviks).
