Abstract

The article is devoted to the issues arising in the execution of imprisonment in relation to prisoners of war of convicted foreign citizens. In the course of a retrospective analysis of the legal regulation of the execution of punishment in relation to prisoners of war, successful solutions of the legislation of that time are highlighted. Attention is drawn to the absence in the modern penal system of institutions in which convicted foreign citizens from among prisoners of war could be held. In conclusion, it is proposed to revive a number of successful, in the author’s opinion, provisions and create specialized correctional institutions on the territory of the Russian Federation for serving sentences in them by foreign citizens convicted of war crimes.
