Abstract

One of the main features in the development of deposits of natural facing stone is the requirement to maintain the solidity of the blocks being mined and their decorative properties, to ensure the correct geometric shape. These requirements satisfy the mechanical means of separating blocks. These methods include the hydrocline and wedge method of dividing the array (monolith) into blocks, solid drilling of the array, the use of non-explosive destructive compositions or mixtures (LDCs), diamond-rope cutting, as well as the technology of cutting by disc machines, which is gaining popularity recently. Circular cutting to a greater extent satisfies the conditions of preservation of the solidity and geometric parameters of the blocks. Since, the extraction technology does not involve the process of tipping the monolith. As a consequence, it increases the output of commodity blocks. That is why in the publication on the example of Golovinsky field of labradorites the method of choosing the direction of mining operations for disk machines is given which is based on the study of the fracture of a natural stone deposit on the basis of which the main directions of cracks are highlighted. Microstructural analysis was performed on the basis of the samples taken from the quarry. According to the results of microstructural study, the directions of the easiest cutting with circular saws for Golovinsky Labradorite deposit were obtained. The analysis of the correlation field for the optimal cutting direction and azimuth of crack propagation revealed the presence of certain regularities in the grouping of values. The performed correlation analysis of the relationship of the recommended cutting direction with the azimuth of extension of 60 cracks for Golovinsky Labradorite deposit revealed the presence of a correlation connection, which is characterized by a correlation coefficient of 0.58.
