Abstract

Objective: the study of the prevalence of preparation techniques and tools used in the process of endodontic treatment by practicing dentists in Ukraine through anonymous questionnaires.Object and methods. An endodontic section questionnaire, which is rarely distributed in the print format among dentists of Ukraine. Also, in the form of a Googleform posted on the social network Facebook and sent, on the electronic mailing addresses of dental clinics and medical universities of Ukraine.Results. During the course of work, 1273 questionnaires were filled completely, respondents with different experience and place of work. It has been established that 26.35 % of physicians prepare the root canal system only manually and 73.65 % combine manual and machine methods. The most commonly used technique for preparing the root canal system by hand is Step-back (71.09 %) and machine is Single-length (45.64 %). Almost all respondents are expanding with special tools, among which Gates Glidden (58.22 %) and Largo (Peeso Reamer) 31.71 % prevail. Mostly among manual tools doctors use K-files – 89.1 %, H-files – 73.9 % and K-reamers – 49.5 %. Among the machine tools are the most common files of firms Dentsply Sirona (USA) and SOCO SC (China). Most doctors dispose of manual and machine tools after a visual assessment of the tip, 77.93 % and 56.34 % respectively.Conclusions. The high percentage of Ukrainian dental practitioners in their practice uses manual and machine methods of root canal preparation, which is consistent with modern international protocols of endodontic treatment. However, a rather high percentage of physicians neglects the rules of work and disposal, both manual and machine tools, which greatly reduces the quality of endodontic treatment, and most importantly, increases the risk of the cutter tool in the root canal. That is, doctors deliberately reduce the quality of endodontic treatment when they do not adhere to the rules of use, and, most importantly, the utilization of tools.Key words: anonymous questionnaire, endodontics, methods of preparation, endodontic tools, dentists of Ukraine.
