Abstract
For an electric scroll compressor used for automobile air conditioning, a way of improving the axial compliance mechanism has been suggested, and an analytical study has been performed to demonstrate improved performance. For this improvement, a back pressure hole is suggested to be made, at the location such that it is to be exposed to central high pressure compression chambers, while limiting exposure time by partially covering the hole inlet with fixed scroll wrap tip. In this way, back pressure build-up time was significantly shortened, with no drawback in mass flow rate, compared to the conventional back pressure hole mechanism.
