Results: the Russian Federation regulatory and legal framework in the field of combating climate change was considered, the features of the state climate policy were analyzed, and its effectiveness was evaluated. Conclusions: it is shown that climate change regulation in Russian Federation is fragmented; measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions are prevailed. The state climate policy is based primarily on the voluntary participation of large companies, isn’t effective and creates additional challenges for the Russian economy in the medium term.
