Abstract
The article reveals the advantages and problems of using the methods of discussion and debate in teaching students of the pedagogical University on the example of prepared and conducted intellectual meetings between the students of Faculty of Geography and Faculty of Biology and Chemistry of Moscow Pedagogical State University; it also illustrates the emerging competencies and opportunities to the implementation of interdisciplinary connections and emphasizes the idea of personal self-realization of students.

Представляется, что такие методы, как дискуссия и дебаты, несмотря на определенную трудность в их подготовке и проведении, в наибольшей степени отвечают указанным требованиям.
При этом важно понять и учесть, что и дискуссия, и дебаты – это не спор.

В арсенале современного педагога вуза существует немало методов и средств профессионального обучения будущих учителей.
