Abstract

Christopher Nolan’s one of the most brilliant films which shows an extreme conflict of Good and Evil is The Dark Knight. In the film, Batman and Joker are having a great war of Good and Evil, and this war is always regarded as a main theme of the film to most people and researchers. However, in my paper I must concentrate on another figure Harvey Dent who is not a superhero like Batman but symbolizes common people and wanders between Good and Evil.BR The chief aim of my paper is to reveal how common people choose their own way in extremely difficult situation of Good and Evil by studying Dent. Through this study of Dent I would like to figure out what is the most essential not to be corrupted and how to save Good from Evil. In order to study more exquisitely, I will do comparative study The Dark Knight with Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. In Wilde’s text, the protagonist Dorian Gray shows a very similar figure with Dent. So I could draw more specific study about people who wander and choose their own ways between Good and Evil, and what they should make and keep for being Good with Dent and Gray.
