Abstract
The publication shows that L.V. Ushkalov brought something new to the study and popularization of the life of H. S. Skovoroda, how his works influenced the development of historical biographical studies in Ukraine and the study of skovodino in particular. L. V. Ushkalov began to study the life and work of H. S. Skovoroda while studying at the graduate school of the Institute of Literature named after Taras Shevchenko Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (now the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). Numerous works by L. V. Ushkalov about the life and work of H. S. Skovoroda were printed in Ukrainian, English, German, Polish, and Russian. L. V. Ushkalov's interest in the figure was obviously not accidental an outstanding Slobojan thinker. One can argue about the mission of the Kharkiv professor in the study and popularization of the life of H. S. Skovoroda. The works of L. V. Ushkalov remain the pinnacle of modern pan science. One of the markers of this is the numerous reviews of his works about the philosopher. It is obvious that L. V. Ushkalov was perfectly aware all the complexities of studying events, persons and works of the distant XVIII century.
