Abstract

This study was to investigate the effect of hydrogenated beverage intake of pre - endurance exercise on exhalation gas variables in 30s adults. We applied the 24- minute treadmill exercise protocol to 10 physical education graduate students two times at intervals of two weeks. The pre-exercise drinks were hydrogenated beverages, water 500ml of which were taken 250ml each at 30 minutes and 20 minutes before exercise. The double blind trial method was used when drinking of the beverages. The parameters of exhalation gas were AT, VO₂, VCO₂, VE, RCP and RER. The mean and standard deviation for the items were calculated. T-test was used for pre / post-difference test in each experimental group. The significance level of all statistics was set at p<.05. The results of this study were The level of AT occurrence in the hydrogen drink group was significantly later than that of the water drink group (p<.01). VCO₂ levels were significantly lower than those in the water drink group from 18 minutes to the end of exercise (p<.05, p<.01). The VE level was significantly lower than the water drink group from 12 minutes to the end of the exercise (p<.05). RCP incidence levels appeared significantly later than the water drink group (p<.001). The level between AT and RCP was shown to remain significantly longer than the water drink group (p<.01). RER levels appeared significantly smaller than the water drink group from 9 minutes to the end of exercise (p<.05, p<.01).<BR> The conclusion of this study were listed as follows: Incremental endurance exercise in less than half an hour, hydrophobic drink improves exercise ability by delaying fatigue by improving ventilation ability during exercise.
