Abstract
In the article, an attempt to reconstruct archaic ideas about the world structure among the Limbu people is presented. On the basis of local mythological material, religious ideas, peculiarities of traditional dwelling and other indirect data, the archaic elements that form the traditional worldview are reconstructed: the three-part structure of the universe, the celestial axis, and the division of space into cardinal directions. In some areas of the Limbu’s residence, another ancient idea of the multilevel character of the upper and lower worlds is preserved.
