Abstract

The hydrodynamic properties of chitosan solutions in the acetic acid-water binary system were studied by viscometry and potentiometry methods. The degree of protonation of chitosan macromolecules was determined. The dependence of the degree of chitosan protonation on its concentration in solution and on the acetic acid-water ratio has been established. The obtained results make it possible to formulate optimal conditions for carrying out graft polymerization of chitosan in acetic acid media.
