Abstract

A weakly ionized medium formed during impact ionization of a rarefied gas by fast electrons is considered. The development of a model of radiative conductivity based on approximations of the spatial homogeneity of the distribution function of slow secondary electrons and its symmetry with respect to the direction of the electric field is presented. The equations for the concentration, drift velocity, and specific energy of slow electrons are derived from the kinetic equation. The numerical solution of the exact kinetic equation is used to construct the coefficients of the equations for the moments, as well as to test the radiative conductivity model.
