Abstract
Traditional types and forms of settlement in Azerbaijan have developed over centuries and were determined by the level of socio-economic development, as well as natural and geographical conditions. The typology of settlements, in addition to socio economic relations and the level of productive forces, is influenced by a number of other significant factors: the type of economic activity of the population, ethnicity, population size, natural geographic environment climate, topography, water resources, remoteness of settlements from the main highways and large cities. New qualitative changes in the life of the people that occurred under the influence of these factors created the basis for the emergence of various types and forms of housing.
