Abstract

The article notes the using of renewable energy sources, as one of the main principles of the circular economy model, is now a priority vector for the development of European and Ukrainian energy, in which the leading place belongs to hydropower. Promising and appropriate from an environmental and economic standpoint is hydrogen in the structure of the main sources of hydropower production. It can be used both as an energy source and to be used for seasonal energy storage, or as a "green" fuel for vehicles. One of the most effective modern methods of its production is electrolyzers. The current state and prospects of application of hydrogen technologies, the place of perspective domestic models of electrolyzers on the world market of analogues are investigated. An electrolyzer based on a solid polymer electrolyte created at the Scientific Park “SID Sity” of Lviv Polytechnic National University was analyzed. The proposed electrolyzer is characterized by a number of parameters that indicate improved technical and economic characteristics of the device (high efficiency of water electrolysis, low carbon emissions, reliability and energy efficiency, no need to use chemicals to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, versatility, etc.), and allows you to reduce the cost of products manufactured with its use in the production process. It can be used in various fields of industry, medicine, everyday life, etc. The article substantiates the proliferation of such electrolyzers will stimulate the development of hydrogen energy production in the region and the country, increase the efficiency of entities that use it.
