Abstract
This paper explores a survey tool to measure sustainable learning engagement of K12 health-impaired students in online learning environment. Initial questions in the survey were constructed and segregated by area based on criteria and factors suggested in the existing literature. After that, those questions were reviewed and screened by a committee comprising operators of an online program for health-impaired K12 students in Korea as well as professionals on educational evaluation and measurement. Expert Delphi was conducted twice in order to examine the validity of these questions. In addition, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was measured from actual survey conducted with 320 health-impaired students in primary and secondary level for ensuring the reliability of internal consistency of this survey tool. This study is the first attempt in Korea, to authors’ knowledge, generating a comprehensive survey tool(6 aspects, 32 questions) for health-impaired students from their psychological motivation to their use of program web page, measuring their sustainable engagement of online learning programs in a scientific and systematic method. Future research may assess again the validity and reliability of this survey tool by collecting additional empirical evidences through its application to actual online programs. Furthermore, this study could lay foundations for exploring factor analyses of an online program for health-impaired students.
