Abstract

Recently, social enterprises are attracting a lot of attention as a way to solve various types of social problems. On the other hand, unlike general companies that follow the logic of the market economy, social enterprises often have relatively poor levels of human and material resources in situations where social and economic purposes must be achieved at the same time, facing various risks and challenges in terms of corporate sustainability. Accordingly, many social enterprises require close cooperation among related companies to increase sales volume or supplement insufficient resources, and are actively considering the use of online platform for inter-organizational collaboration as an infrastructure to support more effectively collaboration among related companies. This study aims to investigate the desirable characteristics of online platforms that can support collaboration among social enterprises by comprehensively reviewing the characteristics of collaboration and online platforms presented in previous studies. In addition, it is to understand how the desirable characteristics of the online platform for supporting inter-organizational collaboration that affect the expected performance of social enterprises. The analysis results of the study would provide useful various implications for social enterprises and managers seeking to build and operate online platforms as an infrastructure to support various collaborations among social enterprises, in the future.
