Abstract

The article deals with the problem of determining the syntactic functions of the onomatopoeic vocabulary of the Japanese language. It is established that onomatopes contribute to the creation of images and help the reader to imagine clearer the picture of the surrounding world in fiction. The article analyzes examples of using the most frequent onomatopoeic words, selected from the corpus of works of fiction. In the course of the analysis, the main functions of onomatopes in sentences, typical of literary texts, are revealed.
