ВОЗНИКНОВЕНИЕ И ОСНОВНЫЕ НАПРАВЛЕНИЯ ДЕЯТЕЛЬНОСТИ ВОРОНЕЖСКОГО ЦЕРКОВНОГО ИСТОРИКО-АРХЕОЛОГИЧЕСКОГО КОМИТЕТА

Abstract

The article examines the process of forming Voronezh Parochial Historical and Archaeological Committee. The authors analyse the attempts to create the society from the middle of the XIX century, show the contribution of E. A. Bolkhovitinov’s and N. I. Vtorov’s scientific circles to the revival of interest in history among the Orthodox clergy, reveal the role of XII Archaeological Congress in the institutionalization of the Committee, which was registered in 1900 and continued to function till the end of 1917. Analysing office documents the authors characterize the key trends of the Committee’s research activity.
