Abstract

This study aims to identify differences in effects on human physiological and psychological status by visual stimulus types of forests. 5 types of Beautiful forest scenery and 5 types of disturbed forest landscapes were used as positive and negative stimulus in experiment. Experiments were conducted with university students who were same majoring in forest science. The results are as follows. Psychological experiment using PANAS and attentional recovery scale(N=73), the mean score of PA(Positive Attitude) of PANAS and attentional recovery were higher in positive stimulus(p<0.01). Especially, as the mean score of attentional recovery were measured to be the highest at ‘panorama of ridge’and followed by the order of ‘panorama of ridge and the sea of cloud’, ‘ridge of curious rock peaks’, ‘a sense of the season’ and ‘waterfall’, the scenery at branch ridge were more likely to recover the attention. On the contrary the scenery of landslide area and construction of mountain road as negative stimulus earned the lowest score in attentional recovery. Physiological experiment using α-wave activity of EEG(N=34), α-wave activity of left and right brain in positive stimulus were increased compare to negative stimulus generally, even though there were the differences by the each stimulus(p<0.05, p<0.01). Keywords: EEG , Forest healing effect , PANAS scale , Recovery scale , Visual stimulus of forest
