Abstract

The article discusses the main characteristics and features of the classification of parts of the human body. An analysis of the work of forensic units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia indicates the relevance of the designated topic. The article draws attention to the lack of theoretical provisions containing information about parts of the body captured in photographs and video images, which are considered as part of the study of the possibility of its identification. The goal is a comprehensive study and improvement of the theoretical, methodological, organizational and tactical foundations for conducting an identification forensic portrait examination of human body fragments. The article proposes a classification that significantly expands knowledge in the field of forensic portrait examination of parts of the human body using photo and video images and allows for more successful identification. Subsequently, this knowledge can be useful and used for training forensic experts.
