Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among self-determination motivation, physical self-perception, and exercise adherence of sports for all participants in Hunan province, China. After the sampling, 1,500 participants were recruited by convenient sampling with program hours of use at public sports centers in the three cities. 1,337 data were finally analysed after omitting 163 data.BR The results are as follows. First, internal regulation motivation and confirmative regulation motivation of self-determination motivation significantly influenced on the tendency and possibility of exercise adherence while amotivation had a negative effect. Moreover, the internal regulation and confirmative regulation of SDT indicated significant effects on the reinforcement of exercise adherence while the introjected regulation and amotivation had negative effects.BR Second, the physical skill competence perception showed a positive effect on the tendency, possibility and reinforcement of exercise adherence while the body image perception had a negative impact on the possibility and reinforcement of exercise adherence.
