Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to compare the difference of the social physique anxiety in female college students dents by area and test the generalizability for the scale. Data of 199 female college students in Jeju area and 125 female college students in Seoul and Gyeonggi province were analyze with the independent t-test. Confirmatory factor analysis implemented to test the construct validity of a Social Physique Anxiety Scale for 109 male college students in Jeju area. In results, the difference of social physique anxiety between Jeju and Seoul Gyeonggi area was significantly different only in the factor ‘the anxiety related to clothes’. The 3-factor model was fit into the male data except the index of RMR and GFI. In conclusion, the social physique anxiety scale which developed with female college student was valid for male college student only for the structure, and each item should be revised for the future development of generalized social physique anxiety scale.
