Abstract

The authors focus on the representatives of the Russian of China, living in Trekhrechye (Sanhe Qu), Northeast China. Currently, there are still several villages where the descendants of Russian settlers, mostly mestizos born of mixed parentage live. The most important features of ethnicity for this ethnic group are Russian language, folklore, adherence to the Orthodox tradition, identifying their fate with the history of Russia. On the basis of field research the authors found that one of the important methods of formation and fixation of ethnocultural identity of Russian inhabitants of this region are memorates and marginal texts, existing on the border of speech and writing (notes in the margins of Russian books, letters of the inhabitants of Trekhrechye, the diaries-songbooks). Such texts reflect the marginal ethnicity of Russian inhabitants of Trekhrechye.
