Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the mediating effect of social support in the relationship between acculturative stress and depression among international students in Korea. A total of 125 domestic international students from 14 different countries were targeted. The survey results were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program. As a result of setting social support as a mediating variable and analyzing it, recognition of discrimination and rejection and hate among the independent variables, and family support and support from friends among the mediating variables showed significant results. And given that the effect of the independent variable in step 2 was larger than that in step 3, social support appeared to have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between depression and acculturation stress.
