Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the current status and promotion of dance big data production and utilization. The seven national big data platforms currently open in Korea were targeted for the research. The research questions are as follows; how dance data is currently databased, what is needed to share and spread and what new values dance bigdata can create. Analysis of major platforms show that dance data is mainly dependent on structured data with about 28,779, and provided with metadata or in API format. The words in keywords or description of the data are very important key at data retrieval. It also serve as the basis for analysis of associations over time and space data. Regardless of both formats visualization tools play an essential role in data analysis and linkage. Dance data can be divided into three categories. The first is related to creative activities which is performance/dance group lists performance welfare facilities and support policy information, etc. The second is about preservation which is related to dance recordings, 3D data, information of the artworks, academic resources, etc. The third is enjoyment which is including rate of ticket sales, performance related news reports and online log information, etc. Big data platform is a central place where these data were linked. At the platform, dance data can merge with wide range of other data, such as education, science, transportation, communication, economic, finance, construction, energy, agricultural and fishery foods.
